Ravintsara essential oil is extracted from leaves and young leafy Cinnamomum camphora branches.
Ravintsara translates to " good leaf " in Malagasy.
Native to China and Japan, cinnamomum camphora was introduced in Madagascar in the middle of the 19th century as a decorative tree then acclimatized to the island’s uplands.
It can easily be distinguished from Ravensare aromatica by the three veins in its leaves.
Ravintsara essential oil is very rich in 1.8-cineol (>50%), giving it a fresh and herbaceous scent, and also contains sabinene and alpha-terpineol.
