Bitter orange, or Bigarade, is the citrus fruit of classic elegance. Its zest offers an intense, noble and complex freshness, with a bitterness that gives it a remarkable character and tenacity. It is chic and timeless freshness.

The journey takes us to the Ivorian plantations, where bitter oranges are cultivated for their fruit. The harvest is done manually, and the peels are then cold-pressed to extract the precious essence, a concentrate of sunshine and character.
History & Origins
Native to Asia, the Bigaradier (Citrus aurantium amara) was introduced to the Mediterranean region by the Arabs in the 10th century. It is a providential tree, every part of which is used: the fruit for the essence, the flower for Neroli and the absolute, and the branches for Petitgrain.

Used to make the famous bitter orange marmalade and liqueurs like Grand Marnier or Cointreau, Bigarade is a mainstay in perfumery, notably in classic Eau de Cologne and Chypre perfumes.

I chose a Bigarade essence from the Ivory Coast for its exceptional quality, very rich in facets. It has a power and longevity superior to other citrus fruits, which is crucial for a top note that must be memorable and lasting. It's the note that gives nerve and sophistication to the composition.
Bigarade is the hesperidian backbone of Mazhar. It brings that noble bitterness which structures the perfume's flight and perfectly interacts with the honeyed sweetness of orange blossom. It is raw, uncompromising elegance.

Mandora (Cyprus) · Top note
A juicy sun captured in a bottle. A rare, natural hybrid between orange and mandarin, Mandora offers a vibrant, sparkling and incredibly multifaceted citrus burst, with a fruity sweetness that modernizes the hesperidic accord.

Our quest for the perfect citrus fruit led us to Cyprus, the birthplace of the Mandora. There, meeting passionate farmers who have cultivated this fruit as a family treasure for generations was a given. It's the story of a fruit bursting with sunshine and expertise.
History & Origins
The Mandora is a local celebrity in Cyprus, resulting from a natural hybridisation (spontaneous cross) between the orange tree (Citrus sinensis) and the mandarin tree (Citrus reticulata). Its story is one of agriculture, a fortunate accident that Cypriot farmers have preserved and cultivated.
Uses of Yesterday and Today
Mainly consumed as a table fruit in Cyprus, the Mandora remains very rare outside its island of origin. Its use in perfumery is still confidential, making it an ingredient of choice for niche houses seeking originality.

La Mandora is a gift. It has the freshness of mandarin and the roundness of orange. My intention was to capture that burst of the first second, that feeling of zest that you press and which releases a crazy, joyful energy.
Mandora is our modern touch. We were looking for a citrus fruit with a story, a unique character. Its rarity and its olfactory profile, both soft and intense, make it the perfect complement to Bigarade and Neroli, for a complex and surprising opening.

Neroli (Tunisia) · Top note
Distilled from the bitter orange blossom, Neroli is floral, fresh, green and slightly bitter. It is the light of fragrance, the springtime freshness of the Cap Bon orange groves.

History & Origins
Neroli owes its name to Anne-Marie Orsini, Duchess of Bracciano and Princess of Nerola (Italy), who, in the 17th century, started the fashion of scenting her gloves and bath with the essence of orange blossom. This fragrance then became synonymous with aristocratic elegance.

Once a perfume of royal courts, Neroli is a mainstay of luxury perfumery and Eau de Cologne. Orange blossom flower water (hydrolat) is widely used in pastry making and cosmetics for its soothing properties.

Neroli is a demanding material. I chose a Tunisian quality for its particularly floral facet and less citrusy character than other origins. My intention was to capture the vegetal freshness of the flower, to create a contrast with the warmth of the absolute in the heart.
Neroli is Mazhar's light. It brings that floral and fresh flight that evokes the morning dew on orange blossoms. We have chosen a Tunisian supply chain certified 'Fair For Life' for its exceptional quality and its commitment to the communities of harvesters.

Orange Blossom Absolute (Morocco) · Heart note
The opulent and sunny heart of the bitter orange blossom. Obtained by extraction, the absolute is richer, warmer and more complex than neroli. It unfolds narcotic, honeyed, waxy and powdery notes, with an animalic facet that gives it an unheard-of sensuality and depth.

The adventure is the same as for neroli, but the magic works differently after harvesting. Instead of distillation, the flowers are immersed in a solvent bath which will capture their fragrant soul. It's a longer and more complex process, giving birth to an olfactory treasure of incomparable richness.
History & Origins
While neroli has been known since the 17th century, orange blossom absolute is a more modern creation, made possible by the volatile solvent extraction techniques developed in Grasse in the 19th century. It allowed perfumers to capture a more faithful and richer facet of the flower.

Key ingredient in great floral and oriental perfumes, orange blossom absolute is used to bring richness, warmth and sensuality. It is often associated with other white flowers such as jasmine or tuberose, or with amber and gourmand notes.

Atlas Cedar (Morocco (Atlas)) · Base note
The quiet strength of the Moroccan mountains. Atlas Cedar offers a woody, dry fragrance, with animalic, leathery and slightly camphoraceous nuances. It's a base note that brings a majestic structure, elegance and verticality to a composition.

The journey takes us to the heart of the Atlas cedar forests, where centuries-old trees command respect. The sawdust is harvested from local sawmills, which work with cedar wood (from authorized felling) for cabinetmaking. It's a story of valorization and respect for a sacred tree.

The Cedrus atlantica is a majestic tree endemic to the Atlas Mountains in North Africa. Its wood, rot-proof and fragrant, was used by the Egyptians for embalming, shipbuilding, and sarcophagi. It is a symbol of longevity and immortality.
Yesterday's and Today's Uses
From sacred building wood in Antiquity, Atlas Cedar has become a prized raw material in perfumery for its unique woody signature. Its essential oil is obtained by distilling wood shavings, thus valorizing waste from the furniture industry.

In aromatherapy, Atlas Cedar essential oil is used for its decongestant properties for the respiratory tract, as well as for its lipolytic virtues (helps break down fats). It is also a scalp tonic.

I used it to create a woody base that is not austere, but on the contrary, comfortable and textured, in perfect harmony with the tonka bean.
Atlas Cedar is the anchor of Mazhar. It brings that woody and dry dimension which balances the honeyed roundness of orange blossom. It's the wood that evokes the doors of riads, the warmth of souks. It's the structure that gives the fragrance its hold and depth.

Tonka Bean (Brazil / Venezuela) · Base note
A gourmand treasure from the Amazonian forest. The tonka bean is a base note of addictive warmth and sweetness. Its fragrance is complex, with facets of almond, vanilla, cut hay, caramel and tobacco. It is an enveloping and comforting note.

The tonka bean is the seed contained within the fruit of the Cumaru tree, a huge tree that grows in the Amazon rainforest. It was used by Amerindian peoples as a lucky charm and for its medicinal properties. It was introduced to Europe in the 18th century.

Used in cooking as a substitute for vanilla or to flavor desserts, the tonka bean is a key ingredient in perfumery, at the origin of the 'Fougère' family with the historical 'lavender-geranium-tonka bean' accord. Today, it is the star of gourmand and amber bases.

La principale différence réside dans leur méthode de remplissage et leur facilité d'utilisation. Bien que les deux permettent de recharger vos flacons de 50mL et 11mL, leur conception est différente :
- Recharge 100mL (avec Entonnoir) Elle s'utilise avec un entonnoir fourni pour un remplissage manuel.Vous versez vous-même le parfum de la recharge dans votre flacon, ce qui demande un geste précautionneux.Idéale si vous êtes à l'aise avec le transvasement manuel.
- Recharge 200mL (avec Embout RT Twist) Elle possède un embout "RT Twist" intégré qui se visse directement sur votre flacon.Le remplissage est automatique et anti-débordement : le parfum s'écoule tout seul une fois la recharge vissée.C'est la solution la plus simple et la plus rapide, sans risque de renversement.
En résumé, les deux formats sont économiques et écologiques, mais la recharge de 200mL offre un confort d'utilisation supérieur grâce à son système de remplissage innovant.
Comment recharger le flacon avec une recharge 100mL ?
Si vous souhaitez remplir le flacon du voyage 11mL ou 50mL reachargeable avec une recharge de 100mL suivez ces étapes :
- Dévisser la pompe du flacon rechargeable 50mL ou 11mL, dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une montre (vers la gauche).
- Placer l’entonnoir dans le flacon à recharger. Maintenez-le un peu surélevé afin qu’il y ait un appel d’air.
- Verser le contenu de la recharge dans le flacon avec précaution. Une fois le flacon rempli, retirer l’entonnoir.
- Revisser la pompe sur votre flacon. Bien reboucher la recharge 100mL. Vous n’avez plus qu’à vous parfumer.
Comment recharger le flacon avec une recharge 200mL ?
Si vous souhaitez remplir le flacon du voyage 11mL ou 50mL reachargeable avec une recharge de 200mL suivez ces étapes :
- Dévisser la pompe du flacon rechargeable 50mL ou 11mL, dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une montre (vers la gauche).
- Visser l’embout "entonnoir" de la recharge sur le flacon à recharger dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre.
- Une fois bien vissé, le flacon se remplit tout seul grâce à l’appel d’air. S’il ne se remplit pas immédiatement, agiter légèrement la recharge pour aider le parfum à descendre. Attendre que le flacon soit plein. Lorsqu’il n’y a plus de bulles dans la recharge, le remplissage est terminé.
- Dévisser la recharge par l’embout en le maintenant bien.
- Revisser la pompe sur votre flacon. Vous n’avez plus qu’à vous parfumer.
Point d’attention : Lorsque vous manipulez la recharge, faîtes attention de ne pas dévisser l’embout "entonnoir" de son flacon 200mL.
Conserver votre recharge à l’abri de la lumière et de la chaleur, afin de maintenir la qualité de votre parfum.
